Israel Jackson Death
The law firm Meriowitz & Wasserberg, LLP is built on the principles of service, advocacy, and the pursuit of truth and justice. That is why we have been retained to represent the family of Israel Monte Jackson.
On April 26, 2020, Israel was found dead hanging from a tree in Roanoke, Virginia. His death was ruled a suicide and the case was immediately closed. Several weeks prior to Israel’s death, a missing person report was filed with the Roanoke City Police Department. The family has serious doubts about whether Israel took his own life and the police have provided conflicting reports.
The family has retained our firm to ensure that the authorities have conducted a full and thorough investigation. To that end, our firm filed a Freedom of Information Act Request on June 22, 2020, requesting any and all information relating to the investigation
After receiving a response from the authorities, our office reviewed the materials and drafted a letter to Virginia Attorney General Mark R. Herring requesting that his office reopen and/or monitor a true and thorough investigation into Israel’s death.
